Privacy notice

How I look after your information.

Discretion is central to executive search. This notice explains what personal information Sträva Consulting holds, why, and the choices you have.

Last updated: October 2026

1. Who I am

Sträva Consulting Limited (company number 09775139) is the data controller for the personal information described in this notice. I am a one-person executive search consultancy, so I am also your point of contact for any privacy question.

Registered in England and Wales. Registered office: Ground Floor 5, The Pavilions, Cranmore Drive, Shirley, Solihull B90 4SB
ICO registration number: ZA526904
Email: ben@stravaconsulting.co.uk · Phone: 07762 489476

2. Whose information I hold

  • Candidates: people I approach about roles, people who contact me about their career, and people I place.
  • Clients: the people I work with at businesses that hire through me.
  • Referees and contacts: people who give references or recommend others.
  • Website visitors: people who use this site or send an enquiry through it.

3. What information I collect

For candidates, this may include your name and contact details, your CV, employment history, qualifications and professional memberships, current salary, package and notice period, the kind of role and location you would consider, notes from our conversations, interview feedback, references, and, if you agree to take one, the results of a behavioural assessment.

For clients, this is usually your name, job title, business contact details and notes about our work together.

For website visitors, this is what you send through the enquiry form, plus technical information collected by cookies (see section 10).

I do not ask for sensitive information such as health, ethnicity or religion. If you choose to tell me something of this kind, for example because you need an adjustment at interview, I will only record and use it with your explicit consent and only for that purpose.

4. Where it comes from

Most information comes from you directly. Because executive search means approaching people who are not actively looking, I also use professional information that is publicly available, such as LinkedIn profiles, company websites, professional bodies and industry press, as well as recommendations from people in my network.

If I collect your details from one of these sources and contact you, I will point you to this notice when I first get in touch, and in any case within one month.

5. How I use it, and the legal basis

  • Identifying and approaching suitable candidates, and keeping in touch about future opportunities. Legal basis: legitimate interests. Matching experienced people with the right roles is the core of my business, and it is something most senior professionals expect. You can ask me to stop at any time.
  • Putting you forward for a role. Legal basis: your consent. I will always discuss a role with you and get your agreement before I share your CV or details with a client.
  • Behavioural assessment. Legal basis: your consent. Results are shared with the client only with your agreement, and you can ask to see your own results.
  • Delivering search and recruitment services to clients. Legal basis: performance of a contract, and legitimate interests.
  • Answering enquiries made through this website. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
  • Keeping business, tax and accounting records. Legal basis: legal obligation.

I do not make decisions about you by automated means, and I do not sell your information to anyone.

6. Who I share it with

  • Clients, when you have agreed to be put forward for a specific role.
  • Referees, when you have given me their details and asked me to contact them.
  • Behavioural assessment providers, if you agree to take an assessment. I use a small number of accredited providers and will tell you which one before you start.
  • Service providers who support the business, such as email, cloud storage, my recruitment database and the website host (Wix). They may only use your information to provide their service to me.
  • Professional advisers, such as my accountant, where needed.
  • Regulators, courts or law enforcement, where the law requires it.

7. International transfers

Some of my service providers store information outside the UK. Where that happens, I rely on UK adequacy regulations or the UK’s approved contract terms (the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum), so your information keeps an equivalent level of protection. If I place you in a role overseas, your details will go to that employer with your agreement.

8. How long I keep it

I keep personal information for no longer than 12 months, unless we are actively working together or the law requires me to keep it.

  • Candidates and contacts: up to 12 months after our last meaningful contact. Before then, I will ask whether you would like me to keep your details. If you would not, or I do not hear back, I delete them.
  • Clients: up to 12 months after our last engagement.
  • Website enquiries: up to 12 months.
  • Invoices and financial records: six years, as required for tax purposes. These hold only what the record needs, such as names, the role and the fee.

9. Keeping it secure

Your information is held on password-protected, encrypted devices and accounts with two-step sign-in. Access is limited to me and to the service providers listed above, and only as far as they need it.

10. Cookies

This website uses only the cookies it needs to work. It does not use advertising cookies. If I add analytics cookies in future, I will ask for your consent first and update this notice.

11. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
  • ask me to correct anything inaccurate or incomplete
  • ask me to delete your information
  • ask me to limit how I use it
  • object to my using it, including for keeping in touch about opportunities
  • ask for information you gave me in a format you can take elsewhere
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where I rely on consent

To use any of these rights, email ben@stravaconsulting.co.uk. I will reply within one month and there is normally no charge.

12. Concerns and complaints

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

13. Changes to this notice

I will update this notice when the way I handle information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
